While living in the Terezin ghetto, Maud Klotilde Stecklmacher made a new friend who gave her a small glass ladybug. She managed to keep this keepsake safe for the entire war. It wouldn’t be until after the war that she would discover her friend, Hermann Tandler, had died when he and his family had been transported to the Treblinka killing center.
Maud donated this precious item to the Museum to ensure her friend Hermann and his family would not be forgotten.
Collection includes earrings (hanging), necklaces, and bracelets.
Original ladybug was donated by Maud Klotilde Stecklmacher Beer.
