I love you , They Didn't Say: Holocaust and Diaspora Survival: The Next Generations
Author: Carol Simon Elias
The author, a daughter and granddaughter of Holocaust survivors, examines how the Holocaust has affected her entire family. How she herself was unable to say “I love you” to her own children. To her, it was as if expressing words of love after the horror her grandmother and father had gone through would somehow demean the enormity of their tragedy. At first, she meant to document her mother’s and her grandparent’s stories of survival, but also it became a document of how their experiences affected the next generation, her generation.
