Flower and Leaf Earrings with Two Beads
A lovingly embroidered little girl’s dress inspired this collection of jewelry. Beila Griffel made the dress—ecru with colorful flowers embroidered on the neckline, sleeves, and skirt—for her daughter, Herta, who escaped Austria for America in 1940 through the German-Jewish Children’s Aid Society.
The earrings are made with glass beads and sterling silver. They come with the story of the artifact.
Herta Griffel Baitch donated the dress to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in memory of her parents, Wolf Griffel and Beila Bertha Nagel Griffel. Learn more about Beila and Herta Griffel.
