While she was imprisoned in Auschwitz, a Sintezza woman’s family safeguarded her belongings, including a small hair comb adorned with a rose. That rose inspires this collection of jewelry, including a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet.
The bracelet is available in either gold or silver plated tempered steel with a gold or silver plated pewter charm.
Roma and Sinti were among the groups that the Nazi regime and its partner regimes singled out for persecution and murder before and during World War II. Roma and Sinti are pejoratively referred to as Zigeuner in German and as “Gypsies” in English. Learn more about Roma and Sinti and their persecution.
The comb in the Museum’s collection was a gift of Melanie Spitta.
