Liberation 1945: Testimony (DVD)

Arresting eyewitness accounts of the liberation of concentration camps. Survivors who had yearned for rescue and liberators who were hardened combat veterans recall how they were equally unprepared for the moment of liberation. This video begins by facing the horrifying result of the Holocaust and includes moving testimony of the post-liberation period. After liberation, victims of the Third Reich moved from prisoner to repatriated citizen or, as in so many cases, stateless or displaced persons. Survivors and liberators speak of the complexities, ambiguities, and ironies of the end of the Holocaust and the beginning of rebuilding lives.
